The Colorado Urban UNderserved Interprofessional Health Training & Education track (CU-UNITE) is a longitudinal track for students at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus School of Medicine, College of Nursing Nurse Practitioner program and the Physician Assistant (CHA/PA) program. CU-UNITE is designed for students interested in working with urban underserved communities. The CU-UNITE program can support up to 10 Medical Students, 10 Nurse Practitioner Students and 4 Physician Assistant Students per year.
CU-UNITE was one of the first tracks to fully integrate interprofessional education on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The track will provide the skills and support needed for future health care providers serving urban underserved populations. Students completing the CU-UNITE curriculum will have a thorough understanding of healthcare disparities and inequities, the multifaceted role of the health care provider in urban communities, and knowledge about health issues of specific populations of patients in urban areas.
The Colorado AHEC Program was awarded three years of grant funding in May 2010 for CU-UNITE from The Colorado Health Foundation, a local foundation whose mission is, "To improve the health and health care of Coloradans by increasing access to quality health care and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices."
