The annual CREATE Health Faculty Advisor training (CHFA; for both four-year and community college pre-health advisors/counselors throughout rural Colorado) is scheduled during the summer in the Denver-area and is hosted by the University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical Campus. This four-day event introduces pre-health advisors to the wide spectrum of:
- Health career educational opportunities
- Admission requirements for medical, dental, pharmacy, physician assistant, nursing, behavioral health, public health, and graduate schools
Current advising information for their students.
The first CHFA training (July 25 - July 28, 2011) included pre-health advisors throughout Colorado, including those from Colorado Northwestern Community College, Colorado Mountain College, Trinidad State Junior College, Otero Junior College, Lamar Community College, Morgan Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, Adams State College in Alamosa, Western State College in Gunnison, Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Ft Lewis College in Durango, and University of Colorado Denver-Downtown Campus.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, participants attend symposia that will include but are not limited to:
- Each professional school requirements: GPA, professional school scores, job shadowing, and work/volunteer experiences,
- Suggested course work requirements for Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior classes such that students will be prepared to take professional exams
- Test taking strategies
- How to write a letter of recommendation
- Value of volunteering within their community, and
- Rural needs
These symposia are lead by admission counselors and professionals from each school within the University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical Campus. Lastly, Thursday will contain concluding remarks and round-table discussions for advisors from neighboring communities/counties, and participants will return home.
